NPCs are characters that add contrast to the game's lore where they provide information, some are categorized as quest givers, while others are categorized as Merchants whom you can trade with or request for certain services.

Jeremy Information
Jeremy is a Gate Guard who was tasked with watching the Outpost Storage which contains personal belongings and keys to some public facilities, only so that another Gate Guard, Steve, could not steal from there. Some time later he was attacked and knocked out by somebody familiar with the outpost. Captain Carl insisted that nothing was stolen from the storage.
If the player speaks to Jeremy with Blood of the Sacredwood in their inventory Jeremy will accuse Leila of being the one who attacked him earlier, claiming that she smells just like the unknown assailant: the "heavy and fishy" scent he only smelled on Gram before. He then takes his own accusations back, saying that if he was attacked by Leila he would've been already dead.

- Jeremy's assailant could've been after the key to the Catacombs. According to Stein, only he and Captain Carl had the keys, and at that time Bruna had Stein's.
